Castiglione del Lago is famous for its medieval village on a promontory of Lake Trasimeno, characterised by the majestic Rocca del Leone (in the shape of a pentagon) and the Palazzo della Corgna with frescoes, connected by a fortified walkway, offering breathtaking views and a well-preserved historic centre with ancient gates, walls and alleys. It is also famous for its beaches (although today, unfortunately, the lake is suffering quite a bit due to lack of water), lakefront, nautical activities and cultural events, being in the heart of the Trasimeno Park

La Lion Rock, o medieval fortress, is an interesting irregular pentagonal structure, dominated by a 39 metre high triangular keep; at the corners, four towers fortify the crenellated walls.

CHURCH OF SAN DOMENICO
he Church of San Domenico is located in the 16th-century village of Castiglione del Lago, in Via del Forte. It was erected in 1636 by the last Duke della Corgna Fulvio II Alessandro (1589-1647) to fulfil a vow made to the saint of Guzmán so that his wife would be cured of a serious gangrene in her arm.

TULIP FESTIVAL
END OF APRIL EARLY MAY - Parades of floral floats, a tulip garden to visit, “Flowers and Passions” market, wine tastings (Goblets and Tulips) and local dishes.

TRASIMENSO BLUES
SUMMER - Festivals such as Trasimeno Blues, Roccacinema, Trasimeno Teatro, and choral singing and folklore festivals, often in the fortress.
